Screening & public discussion featuring the work of 22 filmmakers from Gaza, offering perspectives on their daily lives, conditions and hopes since October 2023.

Presented by from the river to the sea collective, with special thanks to Critical Image Forum research clusterUBC Film Society and the UBC Department of Anthropology, the screening will take place over 2 nights, the first on Oct 17 and a second on Nov 28, both at the Norm Theatre at UBC.

There will be short presentations before the films, the speakers include:

Mohannad Abwah: Abwah will share his experiences helping organize the UBC student encampment and the afterlife of the camp.

Alia Hijaab from the El Yasmin LibraryMaktabat El Yasmin is a community library at UBC whose mission is to foster horizontal dialogue regarding the MENA region.

Artists 4 Palestine: The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement works to end international support for Israel’s oppression of Palestinians and pressure Israel to comply with international law.

 

No RSVP required, entrance by suggested donation of $10 (or less if need be). Proceeds to Palestine and Lebanon relief.
