Everyone is welcome to come along to a free screening of Les Filles du Roi, the acclaimed musical written and directed by Corey Payette.
The screening takes place on Tuesday, November 26, in the Royal Bank Cinema in the Chan Centre. Doors open at 1.30pm, with the film starting at 1.45pm. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with UBC alumni Corey Payette (writer/director) and Christian Díaz Durán (editor).
Synopsis: The lives of young Mohawk Kateri and her brother Jean-Baptiste are disrupted by the arrival of the king’s daughters, young French women sent to the new colony to marry and have children. They forge an unlikely relationship with young Marie-Jean Lespérance, whose dream of a new life is more complicated than she could have imagined.
Les Filles du Roi was nominated for 10 Leo Awards in 2024, winning Best Musical Score and Best Production Design.
