Bryson as the new Academic Director of the UBC-V Public Humanities Hub beginning July 1, 2023. Dr. Bryson is a Professor in the Department of Language and Literacy Education, Faculty of Education. Their research and teaching interests include medical humanities, critical literary theory, academic freedom and collegial governance, queer and trans theory and critical digital literacies. Dr. Bryson will be serving as Academic Co-Director with Dr. Mary Chapman April 1 – June 30, 2023, and as Academic Director July 1, 2023 – June 30, 2025. We express our huge thanks to Dr. Chapman for setting the Hub’s strategic vision as its inaugural Academic Director, establishing funding programs and resources to support humanities research by UBC scholars, developing partnerships and research collaborations across UBC and with community organizations, and for her key role in piloting the Digital Scholarship in Arts program, a joint initiative between the Faculty of Arts, UBC Library, and Public Humanities Hub. We look forward to carrying out the Hub’s mission to support interdisciplinary, collaborative, public-facing humanities research at UBC under Dr. Bryson’s leadership.
